ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College did not lose a set in singles in defeating Albright College 9-0 in a Commonwealth Conference women's tennis match on Monday afternoon.
The Blue Jays (3-0 overall, 3-0 Commonwealth) lost a total of just five games in singles play, winning four of the six matches by perfect 6-0, 6-0 scores over the Lions (2-6 overall, 0-4 Commonwealth).
Emily Swarr was a 6-0, 6-4 winner at first singles over Lisa Archibald, while
Jess Russell shut out Ashley Woodcock 6-0, 6-0 at second singles and
Allison Burkhardt blanked Anna Berzins 6-0, 6-0 at third singles.
At fourth singles,
Madison Pipkin posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Desiree Owle,
Kristi Noecker defeated Shaunte Allen 6-1, 6-0 at fifth singles and
Sarah Poulle won 6-0, 6-0 at sixth singles over Brittiney Boyle.
In doubles, Swarr and Russell won 8-2 over Archibald and Woodcock at flight one, Burkhardt and Pipkin blanked Allen and Amanda Cain 8-0 at flight two, and Noecker teamed with Poulle for an 8-5 win over Berzins and Owle at flight three.
