WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College improved to 4-0 in the Commonwealth Conference with a 9-0 win at Lycoming College in women's tennis action on Wednesday afternoon.
The Blue Jays (4-0 overall, 4-0 Commonwealth) lost just one set to the Warriors (1-8 overall, 0-5 Commonwealth) to secure a spot in next spring's conference playoffs.
In singles,
Jess Russell defeated Amiee Snyder 6-1, 6-0 at flight one,
Allison Burkhardt won 2-6, 6-3, (10-6) over Rebecca Reynolds at flight two, and
Madison Pipkin was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Erika Niemann at flight three.
At flight four,
Alena Marani picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win over Kelly Drinkard,
Kristi Noecker was a 6-4, 6-0 winner over Katie Walker at flight five, and
Sarah Poulle won 6-4, 6-2 at flight six over Adriana Rivera.
In doubles, Pipkin and Burkhardt defeated Snyder and Reynolds 8-0 at flight one, Russell and Marani won 8-2 over Niemann and Drinkard at flight two, and Noecker and Poulle teamed for an 8-2 win over Walker and Rivera at flight three.
