PITTSBURGH, Pa. --- Carnegie Mellon University edged Elizabethtown College 3-2 in a non-conference volleyball match on Friday night, winning 25-27, 25-20, 17-25, 26-24 and 16-14.
The Tartans (16-11 overall) faced match point in the fifth set at 13-14, but won the final three points to capture the match over the Blue Jays (17-9 overall).
Carnegie Mellon had four players reach double figures in kills, as Caroline Size and Jessica Brackin shared the team lead with 13 kills while Megan Killeen had 12 kills and 18 digs. Samantha Carter recorded 42 assists and 14 digs, while Cameron Griffin had a team-high 25 digs.
Elizabethtown received 17 kills and seven blocks from
Kayla Deats, with
Paige Tanner adding 10 kills and 22 digs.
Crystal Agnew posted 35 assists and 13 digs, and
Andrea Weaver had a match-high 27 digs for the Blue Jays.
