WASHINGTON, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College volleyball team closed its regular season with a pair of victories on Saturday afternoon, defeating Westminster College 3-1 (24-26, 25-21, 25-22, 25-16) and host Washington & Jefferson College 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-15).
In the win over Westminster, the Blue Jays were led by
Paige Tanner who had 13 kills and nine digs.
Lindsay Palm added nine kills and three blocks, and
Kayla Deats recorded eight kills and six blocks for Elizabethtown, which had 12 blocks as a team in the match.
Crystal Agnew paced the Blue Jays with 36 assists to go with 13 digs, and
Kathy Perry added four service aces and nine digs.
Andrea Weaver posted a team-high 17 digs for the Blue Jays in the win.
Against Westminster, the Blue Jays (19-9 overall) picked up 11 kills each from Tanner and Deats, while Palm and
Molly Northway had nine kills apiece. Agnew handed out 37 assists and had 19 digs, while Weaver led four Blue Jays in double figures with 27 digs. Deats and
Holly Bubb each posted seven blocks for Elizabethtown, and Perry chipped in with 14 digs.
Elizabethtown will open play in the Commonwealth Conference playoffs on Wednesday night, hosting Messiah College in a semifinal match at 7:00 p.m. in Thompson Gymnasium. The Blue Jays, seeded second in the four-team field, defeated the third-seeded Falcons 3-2 in their regular-season match on Oct. 6 in Thompson Gymnasium.
