Burkhardt and Pipkin Win Flight as Blue Jays Compete at ITA Regionals

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --- The Elizabethtown College women's tennis team competed at the ITA Southeast Regional tournament, held at the University of Mary Washington on Saturday and Sunday.
The doubles team of
Allison Burkhardt and
Madison Pipkin turned in the squad's best performance by winning the Blue 1flight championship. They defeated Kayla Connor and Erin Spinks of Christopher Newport University 8-3 in the round of 16 and Megan Mathias and Olivia Stone of Bridgewater College 8-0 in the quarterfinals.
Alena Marani and
Kristi Noecker advanced to the semifinals of Blue 2 doubles with an 8-6 win over Victoria Balonik and Dana Russo of Franklin & Marshall College in the quarterfinals.
In singles,
Emily Swarr and Pipkin each advanced to the second round of consolations in the champioship flight with victories, as Swarr defeated Casey Collins of Meredith College 8-6 and Pipkin won 8-6 over Kat Cohen of Washington College.
Noecker won the consolation round at Blue 3 singles with three victories, defeating Wendy Ogbolu 8-1, Katharine Yudkin of Mary Washington 8-6 and Sarah Gibson of Haverford Colleg by an 8-3 score.
