Mike Church has been honored as the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week in men's basketball for the week of Jan. 18-24, the conference office announced Monday.
Church averaged 17.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in two games for the Blue Jays last week, posting double-doubles in both contests. He finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks Wednesday against Lycoming, then recorded game highs of 18 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks in Saturday's 81-66 win over Widener.
For the season, Church is averaging 13.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, while leading the team with 32 blocked shots and ranking second with 28 steals. Church has six double-doubles on the season, including four in the Blue Jays' last six games, and has 15 in his career.
The Blue Jays (12-5 overall, 4-3 Commonwealth) return to action Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Alvernia University.
