Megan Strohman recorded game highs of 20 points, eight rebounds and a career-best seven steals to lead Elizabethtown College to a 66-56 victory at Eastern University in non-conference women's basketball action Thursday evening.
Jen Schiefer added a career-high 15 points off the bench as four players scored in double figures for the Blue Jays (6-11 overall), who set season highs with 11 three-pointers and 21 free throws to defeat the Eagles (5-11 overall).
Bekah Roland was the lone player to reach double figures for Eastern with 10 points, but the Eagles shot just 1-for-11 from three-point range and committed 22 turnovers which led to 33 points for Elizabethtown.
Courtney Kofeldt connected on four three-pointers and finished with 12 points for the Blue Jays, while
Kaity Snyder added 11 points and went 7-for-8 from the foul line as Elizabethtown set season highs for free throws made (21) and attempted (29).
Strohman reached the 20-point mark for the fourth time this season and connected on three three-pointers, while Schiefer went 3-for-4 from beyond the arc in 19 minutes of action to surpass her previous season and career high of 14 points set at Arcadia on Jan. 9.
Eastern led for the game's first eight minutes, but the Blue Jays used seven straight points to take a 16-10 lead following a three-pointer by Kofeldt with 10:38 left in the first half. The Blue Jays shot 7-for-17 from three-point range in the first half to take a 32-25 lead to intermission, as Kofeldt led all players with nine points.
Elizabethtown opened the second half with seven consecutive points, with a three-pointer by Strohman giving the Blue Jays a 39-25 advantage with 17:43 to go. Eastern trimmed the deficit to eight at 43-35 following two free throws by Alysia Goodman with 12:06 remaining, but the Blue Jays built the lead back to as many as 15 points on four different occasions.
For the game, Elizabethtown shot 36.2 percent (17-for-47) from the field but went 11-for-25 from three-point range. Eastern went 19-for-34 on two-point attempts (55.9 percent), but finished at 44.4 percent overall when factoring in their 1-for-11 effort on three-pointers.
Goodman finished with nine points and a game-high six assists off the bench for the Eagles, while four players chipped in with six points apiece.
