Mike Church has been named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week in men's basketball, the conference office announced Monday.
Church scored a game-high 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting and added nine rebounds as the Blue Jays defeated Alvernia 79-69 Saturday in their only action of the week. Church matched his season high for points and just missed his third straight double-double as the Blue Jays moved into third place in the Commonwealth Conference with the win.
For the season, Church leads the Blue Jays in scoring (14.4 points per game), rebounding (8.6 rebounds per game) and blocked shots (28), and is 39 points shy of becoming the 30th player in program history to score 1,000 career points.
The Blue Jays (13-5 overall, 5-3 Commonwealth) return to action Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. at Messiah College.
