Blue Jays Roar to 86-54 Win Over Lycoming

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Megan Strohman scored a game-high 20 points and Kaity Snyder matched her career high with 18 points as Elizabethtown College routed Lycoming College 86-54 in Commonwealth Conference women's basketball action Thursday night at Thompson Gymnasium.

Ali Jury also matched her career high with 10 points and added eight rebounds and seven assists for the Blue Jays (7-16 overall, 3-10 Commonwealth), who set a season high for points and margin of victory with the 32-point win over the Warriors (7-17 overall, 4-9 Commonwealth).

Rebecca Leid paced Lycoming with 15 points while Kaitlyn Ober added 14 points and eight rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench, but the Warriors shot 28.4 percent (19-for-67) from the field as a team, including 3-for-20 from three-point range.

Strohman connected on four three-pointers to reach the 20-point mark for the sixth time this season, while Snyder equaled her previous top scoring performance set on Nov. 21 against Brooklyn College by going 8-for-10 from the field. As a team, Elizabethtown shot 50.7 percent (35-for-69) and connected on nine three-pointers in 25 attempts.

Elizabethtown never trailed in the game, scoring on the first possession of the evening en route to taking an early 7-0 lead. The Blue Jays built their lead to 21-10 on a three-pointer by Strohman with 13:53 left in the first half, and used a late 16-3 run to take a 51-29 lead to halftime as Strohman led all players with 15 points.

The Blue Jays opened the second half with nine unanswered points to go on top 60-29 on a jumper by Stephanie Ellwood with 17:18 left, and their lead did not drop below 30 points over the final 14 minutes.

Ellwood finished with nine points, four assists and five steals for the Blue Jays while Kelly Sauerzopf came off the bench to score nine points, grab seven rebounds and match her career high with five blocked shots in 14 minutes of playing time. Also off the Blue Jay bench, Emily Mullen contributed seven points in six minutes of action.
