ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College wrestling team is 20th in the latest Brute-Adidas National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III rankings, released prior to this weekend's NCAA Division III Championships.
The Blue Jays qualified three wrestlers for the national championships - sophomore
Tyler Erdman at 125 pounds, first-year
Tye Boyer at 149 pounds and junior
Bill Meaney at 197 pounds. Elizabethtown is the top-ranked team out of the Metropolitan Conference and trails only fifth-ranked Delaware Valley College among Pennsylvania schools.
Augsburg College, which qualified ninth wrestlers for nationals, retains the top spot in the rankings followed by Wartburg College, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Coe College and Delaware Valley. Both Wartburg and Coe have qualified the maximum 10 wrestlers for the national championships.
The Blue Jays open action at the two-day championships Friday morning at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
