ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College head men's soccer coach Skip Roderick was among the former Philadelphia professional soccer players recognized at halftime of the Philadelphia Union's inaugural Major League Soccer home game against DC United on Saturday, April 10 at Lincoln Financial Field.

Roderick played for the Philadelphia Atoms of the North American Soccer League during the 1974 and 1975 seasons and later played and coached the Philadelphia Fever of the Major Indoor Soccer League for four seasons (1978 to 1982). Members of the Atoms, which played from 1973-76, and its successor, the Philadelphia Fury (1978-80) participated in the parade of pioneers.

A 1974 graduate of Elizabethtown, Roderick has coached the Blue Jays since 1983 and amassed 436 wins, 10 conference championships, and 17 NCAA Division III tournament appearances along with the 1989 NCAA Division III national championship.
