SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College women's track and field team competed at the Paul Kaiser Classic, hosted by Shippensburg University at Seth Grove Stadium Saturday afternoon, in the team's final meet before the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships at Widener University May 6-8.
Taryn Shank won the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:12.84 to lead the Blue Jays, while
Kathryn Howser was fifth in the 800 meters (2:21.10).
Allie Gold placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.29 seconds) and
Katy Fogel took eighth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:09.85).
The 4x100-meter relay team of
Ashley Lockwood,
Jenna Niedermayer,
Pam Jaraczewski and Gold finished sixth in 51.56 seconds, ranking the team seventh on the school's all-time performance list in the event.
In field events, Jaraczewski was eighth in the long jump (16 feet, 1 inch) and Niedermayer placed ninth in the triple jump at 34 feet, 4 3/4 inches, the fifth-best performance in program history.
Also moving up on the school's all-time Top 10 list were
Bernadette Frawley in the 800 meters (2:26.20, tenth),
Kelly Van Clief in the 400 hurdles (1:14.17, sixth) and
Sarah DeGeorge in the shot put (28 feet, 6 1/4 inches).
