CENTER VALLEY, Pa. --- Jon Day scored his fourth goal of the game with 1:08 left in the first overtime period to give Elizabethtown College a 10-9 victory at DeSales University in Middle Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon.

Day's goal assured the Blue Jays (11-3 overall, 9-1 MAC) of a first-round bye in next week's MAC playoffs and moved them back into first place in the conference standings, a game ahead of Eastern University, Lycoming College and FDU-Florham (all 8-2) with one game remaining.

Aaron Weber finished with two goals and four assists for Elizabethtown, including assists on the game-tying goal by Shawn Corcoran with 2:44 left in the fourth quarter and on Day's game winner. Corcoran tallied two goals and an assist, and Josh Dougherty scored a pair of goals for Elizabethtown in the victory.

Tony Fabrizio led the Bulldogs (5-10 overall, 4-6 MAC) with four goals while Whit Bruemmer had three goals and Michael Bassani notched two goals and three assists in defeat.

Elizabethtown trailed 3-1 with 2:10 left in the first quarter, but scored three goals in the final 1:32 to take a 4-3 lead. Day tied the game with a man-up goal with 36 seconds left, and Weber just beat the horn to put the Blue Jays on top.

Weber scored early in the second quarter to give Elizabethtown a 5-3 lead, but two goals by Bruemmer and one from Fabrizio sent DeSales back on top 6-5 with 4:28 left in the half. Dougherty (man-down) and Fabrizio exchanged goals prior to halftime, and DeSales carried a 7-6 lead to intermission.

Fabrizio's third goal of the day gave the Bulldogs an 8-6 lead with 6:49 left in the third quarter, but Corcoran answered 2 1/2 minutes later as the Blue Jays pulled within 8-7 entering the final period.

Day scored the Blue Jays' third man-up goal of the afternoon with 11:44 to go to tie the score at 8-8, but Fabrizio, who entered the game with just four goals on the season, matched his season total with 3:16 to play to put DeSales on top 9-8.

After Corcoran tied the game at 9-9 with 2:44 left, DeSales had three shots to take the lead but misfired on all three attempts, including a shot off the post by Patrick McManimon with four seconds remaining, and the teams went to overtime.

In the extra period, the Blue Jays received a 30-second man advantage just 58 seconds into the session, but could not get off a shot. A turnover caused by Mike Kenneally gave the Blue Jays the ball back with 2:07 left, and Day scored a minute later to give Elizabethtown the win.

Elizabethtown finished with a 46-43 advantage in shots while DeSales held a 40-38 edge in ground balls. The Blue Jays went 3-for-5 with the man advantage, while the Bulldogs were 0-for-5 and allowed a man-down goal.

Kenneally had a standout game for the Blue Jays with eight ground balls and five caused turnovers, while Brent Campbell had six ground balls and went 10-for-22 on faceoffs. Kevin Walker collected nine ground balls and finished 12-for-22 on draws, while Brendan Guerrier caused five turnovers and picked up six ground balls for DeSales.

Brendan Corcoran made 14 saves in goal for the Blue Jays, including 10 in the second half, while Justin Campanelli tallied 12 of his 16 saves after halftime.
