ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College will seek its third straight Commonwealth Conference golf championship Saturday and Sunday at the Hershey Country Club East Course. The Blue Jays won their first-ever conference title in 2008, and followed up in 2009 with a seven-stroke victory over Albright College.
Action tees off Saturday at 8:00 a.m. with 18 holes of golf, and wraps up Sunday beginning at 8:00 a.m. with the final 18 holes. The conference team champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships, which will be held on the same course as well as the Hershey Links May 11-14.
Four of the five players in the Elizabethtown lineup have been part of the previous championship squads, including three from last season's team.
Dan Bolstein will be in the number-one slot in the lineup after averaging 81.5 in 11 rounds this season, while defending conference Rookie of the Year
Nick Iacono carries a team-best average of 805. and has four top 10 finishes in 10 events.
Dan Senkler is in the third spot in the lineup on the strength of an 80.6 average in five rounds, while
Geoff Quinque has been a member of the last two conference championship teams and has an 83.7 average this season.
The lone newcomer to the lineup for the Blue Jays is
Bret Hartman, who played eight rounds this season and has an 83.6 average.
