MEADVILLE, Pa. --- Members of the Elizabethtown College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Gator Invitational, hosted Friday by Allegheny College.
Five of the nine Blue Jays who competed set personal record in their respective events, including a pair of improved NCAA Division III provisional qualifying times.
Megan VanDenHengel finished third in the steeplechase with a time of 11:04.98, breaking her own school record of 11:12.2 set at Bucknell earlier this season and bettering her NCAA provisional qualifying time.
Taryn Shank was fifth in the 10,000 meters with a season-best time of 37:18.45, shaving a few seconds off her provisional time of 37:22.71 set at Washington & Lee.
In the discus,
Sarah DeGeorge was third with a mark of 111 feet, 7 inches to break her personal record of 109 feet, 10 inches set at Widener, while
Kathryn Howser was clocked in a season-best time of 2:18.67 in the 800 meters.
On the men's side,
Aaron Focht finished in 15:05.57 in the 5000 meters to set a personal record and break the program's freshman record of 15:08.83 set by Brandon Bear in 2006 at Villanova.
Charlie Larsen was timed in 15:40.58 in the 50000 to improve his personal record of 15:42.70 set at the Middle Atlantic Conference championships.
In the steeplechase,
Rich Greco finished sixth in 9:52.96 while
Myles Lund took 10th in 10:20.84.
