ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College is ranked 18th in the final Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division III Poll, the IWLCA has announced.
The Blue Jays finished 16-5 overall and 12-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference, winning the first MAC championship in program history with an 11-4 victory over FDU-Florham. Making its first appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament, Elizabethtown won 13-12 at Washington & Lee University in a first-round game before being eliminated by the University of Mary Washington in second-round action.
Four of the Blue Jays' five losses came to ranked opponents, including national champion Salisbury University and Final Four participant Gettysburg College. The Blue Jays, who were ranked 20th in last year's final IWLCA poll, have compiled a 56-17 overall record and a gaudy 40-1 record in regular-season MAC games over the last four years.
Elizabethtown placed seven players on the All-MAC team, including conference Player of the Year
Stephanie Kreis, while four Blue Jays were named to the All-Region team and
Katie Caprinolo was honored as a third-team IWLCA Division III All-American. Kreis and Caprinolo played in the IWLCA North-South All-Star game for the South team, which was coached by Blue Jay head coach
Mike Faith.
Salisbury (21-1) was ranked first in the final IWLCA poll, followed by runner-up Hamilton College (21-1), Franklin & Marshall College (16-4), Gettysburg (18-4) and The College of New Jersey (15-4).
