ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College seniors
Katie Caprinolo and
Stephanie Kreis are among 41 players invited to play in the annual Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association North-South Senior All-Star Game, which will be played Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the United Sports Training Center in Downingtown.
Caprinolo and Kreis will play for the South team in the All-Star Game, which will be coached by Blue Jay head coach
Mike Faith. Of the 21 players on the South roster, three represent Division III champion Salisbury University while Final Four participants Gettysburg College and Franklin & Marshall College also have three players apiece on the team.
Caprinolo, a third-team IWLCA All-American, first-team All-Metro Region and first-team All-Middle Atlantic Conference selection, finished with a team-high 54 goals and added 18 ground balls, 19 draw controls and 18 caused turnovers, and was named MAC tournament Most Valuable Player after scoring five goals in an 11-4 win over FDU-Florham in the championship game. She finished her career ranked fifth in goals (127) and seventh in points (137) and is the program's career leader with 32 free-position goals.
Kreis, a second-team All-Region selection for the second time in her career, was named MAC Player of the Year after leading the conference in points (110) and assists (63, a school single-season record) while adding 47 goals, 28 ground balls and 26 draw controls. She registered seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points in four postseason games, including an eight-point effort in a 13-12 NCAA first-round win over Washington & Lee University.
Faith was named Coach of the Year for the second time in his career after guiding the Blue Jays to a the first conference championship in program history, all while having to replace the team's top three scorers from last season (to graduation) and three starters from this year's squad (to injury). In six seasons, Faith has a 68-38 overall record, and over the last four years has led his team to a 40-1 record in MAC regular-season games.
Elizabethtown finished with an overall record of 16-5 (12-0 MAC), won the first Middle Atlantic Conference championship in program history and competed in the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time, defeating Washington & Lee in the first round.
