DOYLESTOWN, Pa. --- With the squad's top 12 runners resting, the Elizabethtown College men's cross country team still managed a ninth-place finish at the Delaware Valley College Invitational Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Jays, ranked 20th in the season-opening USTFCCCA Division III poll, accumulated 254 points and still finished third among the 13 Middle Atlantic Conference teams that ran on the site of the upcoming MAC championships on Oct. 30.
Chris Farmer was the top finisher over the 8,000 meters for the Blue Jays after crossing the line 37th in 29:34.07.
Adam Derkacz finished 48th in 29:53.35,
Ian Hamilton took 53rd place in 30:05.38,
Jake Blanton came home 61st in 30:20.59 and
Brad Risser rounded out the scoring in 77th place at 31:01.95.
Messiah College won the team title with 47 points, ahead of Felician College (67 points), while Abed Akhtar of Richard Stockton College earned the individual title with a time of 26:26.11 for a 22-second victory.
