Falcons Drench Blue Jays in Regular-Season Finale

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Top-ranked Messiah College defeated Elizabethtown College 5-0 in the Commonwealth Conference regular-season women's soccer finale for both teams on Saturday afternoon at Ira R. Herr Field.

The Falcons (17-0-1 overall, 7-0-0 Commonwealth) received goals from five different players to defeat the Blue Jays (9-9 overall, 4-3 Commonwealth) as both teams fought through heavy rain for a large portion of the second half.

Messiah is the top seed in next week's Commonwealth Conference playoffs and will host Albright College in a semifinal match next Tuesday, while the Blue Jays are the third seed and will travel to Arcadia University on Tuesday.

Joanna Haqq gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead at 22:02, and Rachel Loya converted a penalty kick at 42:06 to send the Falcons to intermission with a 2-0 advantage. Second-half goals from Amanda Naeher (59:39), Erin Hench (73:43) and Olivia Scott (86:56) closed out the scoring.

Messiah finished with a 24-3 advantage in shots and a 9-1 lead in corner kicks over Elizabethtown in the match.

Kristen Kelly started in goal for the Blue Jays and made two saves, while Jess Manchak followed with three stops in the second half. Autumn Reilly played the entire match for the Falcons and made one save.
