ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. David Boretti added his name to an elite list Friday when he was named to the Capital One Division III Men's Soccer Academic All-America® Second Team. Boretti, a first-time honoree, is just the fourth player in Elizabethtown College men's soccer history to receive such accolades. The teams were voted upon by The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Thirty-three players from around the country were honored on the Division III Academic All-America ® First, Second and Third Teams. Boretti, a senior mechanical engineering and history double major from Garmisch, Germany, who now resides in Crofton, Maryland, was the lone representative from the Landmark Conference. Boretti is carrying a 3.95 GPA and is also involved with Elizabethtown's 'Called to Lead' program.

The veteran defender finished his career by helping the Blue Jays post a 1.02 goals against average with only 16 goals allowed in 15 games.

Boretti, who was named Academic All-District 4 for the second time in as many years Oct. 31, started all 15 games for the 7-5-3 Blue Jays. He scored his only goal of the season in a 3-0 win over Wilkes Sept. 17. Boretti also started all 20 games as a junior and 18-of-19 as a sophomore. He is a three-time conference academic honor roll receipient, receiving the distinction from the Landmark this fall, and the Middle Atlantic Conference in 2012 and 2013.

Boretti joins Duane Snavely (1984 and 1985) and Jay Varrato (1991) as Blue Jays named to Academic All-America Teams.

CoSIDA annually recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined athletic and academic efforts.
