Clark named USILA Scholar All-America

USILA Division III Scholar All-America

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Two weeks removed from picking up All-America honors from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA), Elizabethtown's Joe Clark received another. The rising senior from Hershey was one of 83 Division III players nationwide to be named USILA Scholar All-America.

Clark is the fourth Blue Jay in men's lacrosse program history to receive Scholar All-America recognition from the USILA. All four of E-town's selections have come since 2010 and the program has now featured a Scholar All-America pick in back-to-back seasons with Clark following Matt Frey (2015).

Clark led Elizabethtown to the Landmark Conference championship game this past spring, setting new career-highs in points (65) and assists (25), which matching his previous career-high of 40 goals. A program-changing attackman, Clark is the only Elizabethtown player to reach the 40-goal mark twice in a career since the program's inception in 2002. Clark scored 40 goals and added 24 assists for 64 points as a sophomore.

Clark, who ranked third in the Landmark Conference in goals, assists, points and shots on goals (77), has been an All-Landmark First Team selection in each of the last two seasons. He racked up Commonwealth Conference Rookie of the Year and All-CC First Team accolades as a freshman in 2014. Clark enters his senior season one goal shy of becoming the school's fourth 100-goal scorer. His 167 career points are tied for second all-time at the College with hall of famer and former All-American Frankie Puzzangara (2007), while his 68 career assists are tied for third and 99 goals fourth.

An accounting major, Clark was one of five Landmark players to receive Scholar All-America honors.

Established in 1989, the USILA Scholar All-America program recognizes student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens of their communities. The USILA Selection Committee selects an overall team representing Division I, II and III.

To be considered for Scholar All-America honors, a student-athlete must be nominated by his coach and and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale). He will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field. He must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team, or an outstanding league or conference player.

Clark joins Frey, Aaron Weber (2010) and Brendan Corcoran (2012) as Elizabethtown's USILA Scholar All-Americans.
