SCRANTON, Pa. – It's been six weeks since Elizabethtown wrestling's last dual. No matter. The Blue Jays used pins from Bryan Pflanz (133) and Mike Lammer (149), along with three forfeits to start 2015 off with a 34-16 victory at Scranton Wednesday evening.

The teams opted to start the match at 184 pounds, due to Scranton's (3-9) lack of options to wrestle in the top three weight classes. Luke Fernandez (184), Jared Weaver (197) and Eric Eckstein (285) simply had to step on the mat to give the visitors a quick 18-0 lead that the Royals would never threaten.

Brandon Davis edged John Archangelo by a point at 125, getting Scranton on the board, but Pflanz answered for the Blue Jays (2-5) with his first career pin (2:28) over James Samson at 133.

Two weight classes later, at 149, Lammer pinned Patrick Brown 17 seconds into the third period for a 30-6 E-town lead. With his second fall of the season, Lammer improved to 5-2 in duals and has outscored his opponents 23-9 in those bouts.

Senior 174-pounder Zeke Zimmer recorded his 17th win and fifth major decision, both team-bests in 2014-15, with a 10-1 victory over Shawn Flesche to close the match. Zimmer improved to 68-37 in his career, while also moving to 6-1 in duals this season.

The Royals received a pin from Ian Evans at 157 and decisions from James Kelly (141) and Zachary D'Apolito (165) in defeat. Evans, a D3wrestle.com contender in his weight class, got his 50th career win and 17th in a row, giving him a 21-2 record in 23 bouts this winter.

Elizabethtown will take part in the North/South Duals at Ursinus College Saturday. The Blue Jays are scheduled to wrestle Oneonta at 9:30 a.m., with matches against Ursinus, McDaniel and Worcester Polytechnical Institute to follow.
